Four

The place I live in is called Harbourtown. It's a fitting name, if you ask me. The history of this town goes back centuries when it was settled by fishermen looking for better profit by searching for more fish. Somehow it ended up a commercial trading dock and a popular tourist spot. There are always ships being loaded and unloaded by the poor workers who live in the eastern part of the town. Close to the port, but far from the rich families who keep their yachts and boats anchored in the harbour as well.

I usually like to go and watch the ships come and go. I always wonder where they came from and where they're going. Since I have never been on a boat myself, I've always wondered what it was like.

Walking along the mainstreet toward the harbour does make it seem like an authentic seaside village. The stores and houses are painted light pastel or bright colors. Some signes are adorned with sea shells and there are ice cream and hotdog venues lining the sidewalks. A continuous sea breeze cools the hot summer days around here, especially when you're close to the harbour.

Near the harbour there is also a beach. On one end, there is a piece of land that rises and projects into a small peninsula. On top of that, a lighthouse resides. There is an old legend someone lives there, even though the lighthouse has been out of use for years because of the newer one built more recently. All the entrances were bolted shut though, so no one has been in there to confirm anything. It has just become another pointless ghost story.

From a rock near the edge of the small cliff, I obtain a good view. Often I come to that spot to reflect and think. Most of the time I daydream. I imagine other worlds, like the ones I have seen in my dreams. Sometimes I look towards the clouds and envision what they could represent. Maybe doorways to other places I have not seen yet.

Most times, I end up falling asleep, being carressed by the peaceful sea breeze.
