"Daz...Daaaaz?" A distant voice accompanied by very loud knocking wakes me up. "C'mon Daz, get up."
I groan a little and force myself to lift my eyelids. The sunlight was streaming in through my bedroom window, casting an early morning glow onto the wood floors. It was a little bright and I had to squint for a good minute or so.
Finally, I was able to gather the energy to drag myself up and away from my bed. I lazily trudg across my bedroom to the door, tripping over a random clothing article in the process while sleepily rubbing one eye.
"Hul...lo." I yawn while opening the door.
Standing in the hallway was my older brother, Daniel, pretending to be preoccupied with examining his fingernails, exaggerating his wait for me.
Obviously (and poorly) acting, he looks up and widened his eyes in mock shock. "Oh!" he sneers. "You're awake."
"What time is it?" I mumble, leaning onto the wall. Regardless of numbers, it was way too early for me to be supporting myself on my own two feet.
He flicks what seemed to be a morsel of dirt off of his fingernails. "A little before seven," he answers nonchalantly.
I close the door and turn around to go back to bed.
"Hey!" he yells from the other side. "Where are you going?!"
"To sleep," I yell drowsily. "Good night."
"I just wanted to tell you I'm leaving early today."
I stop and turn around once again, although I did not move any closer towards the door. That's all he wanted to tell me?
"So take care of yourself, and make sure you eat breakfast as well."
"Uh..." I nearly stutter. "Okay?"
"Good. See you later then." And with that I hear his footsteps slowly fade away until the sound of the entrance door shut resounds through the apartment.
I let myself fall back onto my bed. Since I was already awake, I saw no point in going back to sleep.
After getting dressed, I find myself some cereal to eat while watching the view outside the window. I can see the harbor from here. I open the window to feel the temperature outside and there is a nice breeze floating around with the sun's early rays. I decide to head down by the shore, to kill time. There is nothing else to do anyway.
